Nicholas
My name is Nicholas, and I am 5 years old. I live in a small mud-and-stick dwelling with my mother and brother. We face daily struggles and live in abject poverty. Right now, I need your help to sponsor my education so I can learn and grow.
The cost to support my education is just £25 a month, which adds up to £300 annually. To complete my primary education, the total cost is £2,100. This support will not only help me learn but also nourish my family. Providing food for us costs £90, and a monthly family cash transfer of £50 would allow my mother to take care of our immediate needs, like paying medical bills and buying basic necessities such as soap and food.
Our living conditions are difficult. We desperately need a toilet, which costs £3,459, and clean water installation is another urgent need at £2,895. Having a proper home for my family is essential, and building one would cost £25,798.
As a primary school pupil, I sometimes travelled long distances to gather water for my family. This not only takes away my childhood but also puts me at risk of dangers like harassment and kidnapping, which are too common in our area. My mother struggles to afford even one meal a day for us because she works hard to sell the vegetables she grows. With me in school, she can no longer rely on me for help; she needs support, especially to fetch clean water.
I have faced health challenges, recovering from malnutrition and being treated for jiggers, fleas, and worms before I could even start school. My health has improved since I started receiving two meals a day filled with fruits and vegetables at school. This means I can enjoy being a child and participate in activities while learning.
By becoming my school sponsor, you will ensure that my education continues and provide me with two hot meals a day, a uniform, shoes, a bag, and the resources I need to thrive. Thank you for considering helping me and my family. Your support can make a life-changing difference.
