Nicholas is in pre-school class 1. He lives with his mother and brother in a mud and stick dwelling. As young as he is, Nicholas is taken long distances to gather water for the family, this not only robs him of his infancy but also exposes him to sexual harassment and kidnapping, which are widespread in the region due to superstitious beliefs in human sacrifice. His mother can barely afford one meal per day to feed the children as she struggles to sell the vegetables she grows on her homestead, but she has to toil going to fetch water something to water it as clean water for the family, especially now that Nicholas is in school and she can no longer rely on him to fetch water constantly, as she did when he was not in school. Nicholas is recovering from malnutrition and has been treated for jiggers that ate his feet, fleas and worms before enrolling in school. The school's two meals with loads of fruits and vegetables have improved his health and also means he enjoys being a child and taking part in childlike activities while at school.

Becoming Nicholas’s school sponsor will ensure his education continues, he’ll receive two hot meals a day and also a uniform, shoes, bag and resources.
