Precious
Precious
My name is Precious; I am 11 years old, in primary five and live with my father and grandmother. After my mother passed away from a long illness, my grandmother took care of us. My father, who was absent during my mother's illness, has returned to our family thanks to a reunification programme, the Roof of Africa. He works hard in Sonu village, doing menial labour; however, our living conditions are far from ideal.
We live in a cramped room that once belonged to my mother, where all four of my siblings sleep. Our grandmother stayed with the youngest child while our father had to guard the outside and often took naps during the day. This leaves him exhausted, making it difficult to attend to work opportunities. The risks are high, especially concerning his health and the threat of malaria.
Thankfully, the school provides us with two hot meals each day, which is a significant relief for our family.
We dream of a safe place to live, a space where we can grow and eat well daily. The cost of securing our own house is £19,875, a challenge we hope to overcome. Additionally, sponsoring my education costs £25 a month, or £300 a year, and completing my primary school education requires £900.
Since attending this school, I have made great strides in both my health and studies. By becoming my school sponsor, you would provide significant support. Your generosity will ensure that I receive 12 months of education, two nutritious meals daily, a new school uniform, shoes, and essential study resources. Together, we can work towards a better future for my family.
