Precious is in primary 3. Since Precious's mother passed away after a long illness, she has been placed in the care of her elderly grandma. Her father had been absent from the family while her mother was alive, but thanks to our unification programme, he is back with them. He now finds work in the Sonu village where the school is located. He works performing menial labour in high demand.

In the room that had been their mother's while she was still alive, all four of his children now sleep in the room, while their grandma sleeps with the youngest one. There is no room for their father, so he keeps watch from the outside and naps throughout the day, which makes it difficult for him to go to a labour job whenever he finds one. This affects his health and puts him at higher for malaria.

The kids are lucky because their older sister, Gracious, is sponsored, and her sponsor has sponsored them for a bed, mosquito net and bedding. They struggle to put food on the table because their grandmother is getting older and can't go to the market and sell veggies like she used to, but the three eat well at our school.

This family desperately needs assistance from a place to live with their father where they may have enough room to grow and eat daily. We hope one day to be able to support them with this.

Since she's been here, Precious has made great strides in her health and studies.
